{Book Tag #2} Rapid Fire

Another one for the road!

1. Ebook or physical book?
Physical books 100% I've gotten better at reading ebooks, but they will never surpass the OG feeling!
2. Paperback or hardback?
Sigh. I go back and forth. I mean, hardbacks are m a j e s t i c, but a good floppy/compact paperback is extremely nice to hold.
3. Online or in-store book shopping?
In-store! I shop online a lot because in my country I can't get most of the books in English I want, but if I lived abroad and had better access I would NEVER shop online. It's so dull by comparison! Where is the bookish atmosphere? The staff picks? The serendipity? You can't top that.
4. Trilogies or series?
I don't read much of either, but I guess series because the second book tends to be a filler in most trilogies.
5. Heroes or villains?
Antiheroes ftw! (And complex characters in general; the books I read don't usually have one or the other.)
6. A book you want everyone to read?
I mean I could recommend Utopia for Realists again, but I guess everyone should also read The Great Gatsby, too. (It might sound cliché, but in Chile it's not usually a mandatory high school read.)
7. Recommend an underrated book?
(Utopia for Realists cough cough) But another one would be Slouching Towards Bethlehem, which again is very big in the US, but it's not very widespread in the Spanish-speaking world. ALSO! Ghachar Ghochar.
8. The last book you finished?
Becoming by Michelle Obama. It took me so long to finish, omg.
9. Last book you bought?
I went to a sale so too manny to name, but some highlights were The Opposite of Fate and The Letters of Edith Wharton.
10. Weirdest thing you've used as a bookmark?
I tend to carry bookmarks, but probably receipts and the sticky-note holder.
11. Used books... yes or no?
Are you kidding me? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12. Top three favorite genres?
Modern classics (especially first half of the 20th century), essay collections/anthologies, and pop-nonfiction (especially history and science).
13. Borrow or Buy?
Buy. I borrow sometimes, but if I really love a book, I'm going to want to mark it up, so... BUY!
14. Characters or Plot?
Characters. I have read and loved plenty of plotless books that are basically amazing character studies.
15. Long or short books?
Both! I don't read as much of either as I'd like, but I love both. (Though when a short book is great, I admire it so much!)
16. Long or short chapters?
The appropriate length for the type of story and desired effect.
17. Name the first three books you think of...
18. Books that makes you laugh or cry?
If it does both, like Less, it will become an all-time fave.
19. Our world or fictional worlds?
Our world 100%, though I deeply admire well-constructed fictional worlds that reflect concerns of our world.
20. Audiobooks... yes or no?
Not for me; I miss the reading experience and get very easily distracted.
21. Do you ever judge a book by its cover?
YES!! I mean, there is so much work involved in the packaging, including marketing decisions... How else am I going to approach a book at a bookstore if not for its cover? (And this includes title, blurb, etc.)
22. Book to movie or book to TV adaptations?
This year I've discovered the true MAGIC of Book to TV Adaptations, so TV 100%! (Including streaming services of course :3)
23. A movie or TV-show you preferred to its book?
Definitely The Devil Wears Prada. Amazing movie, mediocre book.
24. Series or standalone?
Standalone!! There are a few series I love, but overall I rarely feel drawn to them.
* An that's it! See you next week for my mid-month wrap up :)
