{Blog #1} Vibrating Mode

I exist in a perpetual state of excitement and terror... and it's amazing.

Also, I plan to read A LOT this year.

I know that when I first started this I said I hoped to write an entry a week, and then didn't follow through for the entirety of December. Life just became too big as a whirlwind of events unfolded and I got caught up in a transformational storm.

I've graduated, for one thing. I got rejected by a crush and a university, which forced me to show myself how resilient I actually am. What is more, that latter rejection allowed me to reevaluate my entire life plan, and helped me make a decision I had been too scare to choose before the past three months went down. Changes are coming. All of this has me terribly anxious, yet incredibly excited as I finally admitted to myself and my mom (and thank everything for her support) what I want for my life and how I can best achieve my objectives, scary as they might seem.

But more on that later. For now, I'll just say I'm back and I'm sticking around this time.

I've also decided to include a bit more blog content with some of the entries (such as this one), but only insofar as it relates to reading and bookishness (which is most of my life anyways).

And what am I currently reading? I'm finally tackling Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs, after my failure to do so in my high school years. I'm also obsessed with Bowie's Bookshelf, a book commenting on Bowie's own list of the most influential books in his life. I started it Saturday and have been unable to put it down. I'm also rereading Ali Smith's Public Library and other stories, in search of material for my professor to analyze and following the huge rereading kick I'm on.

I'll be reading a lot of experimental/unconventional fiction this month as I'm working as a research assistant for a professor's cognitive stylistics project, which is exciting and has got me back in the academic groove.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what I'll be doing this year (I have some hopes but nothing concrete just yet). This is thrilling; I've never had such a broad horizon before me, ready for me to slowly pave forward. In March I'm picking up three long-postponed projects, though: piano, French, and German. I'm also reading as many Uni library books as I can get my hands on, since I thought I'd be having access this year and in the end I won't, so I need to stack up!

Book-wise, I'm reviving my booktube channel, now with the aim of posting every Wednesday. I also want to be more active on bookstagram, and the podcast I record with my friend Dani (in Spanish) will continue to thrive.

So that's all for today, folks! Exciting year this 2020 is shaping up to be, and I'm ready for the good, the bad, and especially the bookish.
